EFO_0001645Cardiovascular disease
coronary artery disease
Narrowing or blockage of the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle.
Overview
Coronary artery disease occurs when fatty deposits build up inside the arteries that feed the heart, narrowing them and reducing blood flow. It can cause chest pain on exertion and, if an artery becomes blocked, a heart attack.
Lipid levels, blood pressure and diabetes are well-known contributors, which is why those traits are often examined alongside it.
