The blood level of cholesterol carried by low-density lipoprotein.
Overview
LDL cholesterol is the cholesterol carried by low-density lipoprotein particles. Higher levels are linked with fatty build-up in artery walls, which is why it is often called "bad" cholesterol.
It is measured in a routine blood lipid panel.
